About CYB

Caution Your Blast (CYB) is a collection of designers, researchers, and software engineers committed to using digital as a force for good. We love working together to solve complex problems and improve people’s lives - whether they be the citizens using services or the teams who build and operate them.

We’re a people-centric digital practice - our employees are at the heart of company decision-making and we seek to continually improve our processes and culture to make CYB a place we can all be proud of.

No need to take our word for it, though; you can have a look at our staff testimonials to get a better feel for life at CYB.

About the Content Designer role

Caution Your Blast Ltd (CYB) wants to find talented Content Designers to join us on our mission to use tech for good. We’re passionate about creating innovative, user-led digital solutions that improve the lives of organisations and their users. Key to this is content design, so that we deliver exemplary services to users and organisations.

About the skills and mindset the Content Designer will need to thrive

We’re looking for people who are skilled practitioners and who have experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver services, specifically, someone who can:

  • represent CYB in client consulting teams with excellent knowledge and experience of content design

  • collaborate in an agile team to develop exceptional content that is usable for everyone

  • create low fidelity content prototypes and demonstrate value in content prototyping to others

  • contribute to content strategies and policies, and can create content patterns and standards

  • provide support for content improvement projects with a focus on outcomes rather than solutions and activities

  • identify tasks that will provide insights into a problem; formulate hypotheses, gain insights from quantitative and qualitative data and user research and make design decisions on findings.

  • translate user stories into content that meets users’ needs, and propose suitable design approaches

  • write in plain language to meet user needs and make complex language and processes easy to understand presenting the right information in the right format for what users need

  • be able to interpret and follow an organisation's content guidelines

  • robust experience in writing, editing and publishing digital content, and experience in using content management systems and content production processes to publish content

  • show awareness of accessibility and inclusion challenges making information accessible to all. You understand government accessibility requirements and design content that works with common assistive technologies.

  • continuously improve content, and understand why content life cycle management is important

  • work autonomously, and work to stay abreast of content design skills and best practises, sharing and collaborating on these within the design profession and the wider company

You as a person

CYB are passionate about making the most of digital. We only work with people who share this passion and want to deliver exceptional user experiences. This means we’re looking for:

  • strategic thinkers, who are continuously looking for way to expand the impact of their work

  • critical thinkers, who are always looking at ways to improve processes, methods and ways of working

  • creative thinkers, who are willing to try things out and fail

  • problem solvers, people who fall in love with problems not their solutions

  • self-starters who can help create momentum and are happy to act with autonomy
