Who we are

So far at CYB I’ve been working with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office as a junior software developer. My role is to help with the front end development of one of the first government AI-enabled services, which is a very exciting first project to be on!  

Previously I have worked for a travel tech company and a MedTech company, but the work I’m really proud of is my live translation work for wondr medical. We used AI to translate live text so users from all over the world could talk to each other in any combination of languages possible. This was the first time that I'd finally been able to build tech that not only aligned with my interests but actually solved a real world problem before my eyes. 

Before becoming a developer, I also had a long career as a sales and customer success representative, before realising that I wasn't using my brain nearly as much as I wanted to. I realised I had a drive to help solve customers’ problems by directly building the solutions rather than hearing about them on the phone!

I became a developer to build tools that make people's lives easier and better. I'm a fierce advocate of building tech with the user in mind and not bringing my own assumptions when building it - I like to think this makes what I build easy and dare I say 'fun' to use!

I work at CYB because we share the same values. In my interview, I spoke about building things that sit in users’ hands and that are used by the many, not the few. CYB looks to take on projects not necessarily to make the biggest buck, but that bring the most value. Since that's what I try to do as an individual, I felt it was a great fit.
