Who we are

As a CYB senior user researcher, my job is to help conduct and assist with research for the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, working on Emergency Travel Documents. I will be expanding on this research by working on the Consular Appointment Booking system. My own keen interest and expertise as a linguist means that I will also be working with colleagues on Natural Language Processing and how that can be implemented and improve a variety of services. 

Before moving to CYB, I worked at Telmar who provided advertising planning software to large advertisers like BBC, Channel 4, Conde Nast and Disney. After that, I worked for Bupa, who partnered with the Paralympics and championed accessibility within their digital teams. That remains my proudest moment - my unwavering passion for accessibility ensured that the digital team at Bupa understood and embedded WCAG to meet 2.0 standards. This commitment and championship led to my work being recognised with a ‘responsibility’ award from Bupa. 

I would love for linguistics to be understood more in the business world, whether it's bridging the gap for developers and natural language processing or just an appreciation of how understanding language and linguistics can further user research. I hope to use my skills of understanding linguistics by helping others to further their understanding and amplify their skills. 

What drew me to CYB was the keen sense of ethics, a true 'money where your mouth is' mantra when it comes to values, consciousness and reflecting on who they are as a company. It's great to work for a company so consciously aware of what they can do and how to elevate that to help others.
